Standing with Separated and Unaccompanied Children in Goma

In the city of Goma, Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, the humanitarian situation continues to leave thousands of families vulnerable as conflict and displacement persist. Among the most affected are children who have been separated from their families or left unaccompanied in the chaos of displacement.

At Humanitarian Action for Africa (HAA), we are committed to standing alongside these children whose lives have been disrupted by violence and uncertainty. Many of them have lost contact with their parents or caregivers while fleeing insecurity. Others have been forced to survive alone in unfamiliar environments, facing daily risks without the protection and support that every child deserves.

Behind every number is a child with a story a child who once lived in the warmth of a family and who now navigates fear, confusion, and loss. Their pain is real and profound. Yet, even in the midst of hardship, hope remains possible when communities and organizations come together to protect and support them.

Through our interventions, HAA works to identify separated and unaccompanied children, provide immediate care, ensure their protection, and facilitate family tracing and reunification whenever possible. Our teams and partners are dedicated to restoring not only safety but also dignity, stability, and a sense of belonging for these vulnerable children.

Humanitarian action is not only about responding to emergencies; it is about restoring humanity where it has been shaken by conflict. Every child deserves protection, care, and the opportunity to rebuild their future.

We extend our sincere gratitude to FREE DR Congo for standing with us in this mission of compassion and solidarity. Their support strengthens our collective efforts to reach children in need and reminds us that meaningful change is possible when we act together.

As the crisis continues, the needs remain immense. But with continued solidarity and commitment, we can help bring hope back into the lives of children who need it most.
