From vision to action: since 2018, serving vulnerable communities
Born from a deep conviction that humanitarian aid must be rooted in local realities, HAA has grown to become a leading organization in the DRC.
Humanitarian Action for Africa (HAA) is founded in Kinshasa by a group of Congolese humanitarian professionals, with the mission of providing a fast and appropriate response to humanitarian crises in the DRC. The first intervention targeted displaced people in eastern Congo.
HAA mobilizes its teams to support the response to the Ebola outbreak in North Kivu. Community awareness, hygiene kit distribution and psychosocial support are provided to 15,000 people.
Establishment of the MEAL system (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning) and accreditation with international donors including ECHO, USAID and Start Network.
Facing the pandemic, HAA quickly adapts its programs to incorporate COVID-19 prevention. Mask distribution, awareness-raising and support for vulnerable populations amid a dual crisis.
HAA launches its social enterprise program, aiming to create sustainable sources of income for beneficiaries and reduce long-term dependence on humanitarian aid.
Since its creation in 2018, HAA has reached around 810,000 beneficiaries (estimate being consolidated) across 7 provinces of the DRC, with a team of more than 100 dedicated professionals. The organisation continues to innovate to meet growing humanitarian challenges.
