Accountant
Humanitarian Action for Africa (HAA) is recruiting an Accountant to keep the organization's accounts, process and justify expenditure, monitor cash flow and prepare financial reports for management and donors, in compliance with internal procedures and applicable accounting standards.
Based in Kinshasa, the Accountant will work under the supervision of the Administrative and Finance Manager and may carry out occasional missions to HAA's provinces of intervention.

Purpose of the position
Based in Kinshasa, under the supervision of the Administrative and Finance Manager, the Accountant keeps HAA's accounts, processes and justifies expenditure, monitors cash flow and prepares financial reports for management and donors.
They ensure that financial transactions comply with HAA's internal procedures, donor requirements and the accounting standards and legal obligations applicable in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The position is full-time (100%).
Main responsibilities
The Accountant will in particular be responsible for:
- Keeping the organization's general and analytical accounts and entering transactions in the accounting software;
- Checking the compliance, completeness and eligibility of expenditure supporting documents;
- Preparing payments by bank, mobile money and cash, and managing and controlling the cash box;
- Carrying out bank reconciliations and preparing monthly cash statements;
- Monitoring advances, receivables, payables and supporting documents from the provincial offices;
- Preparing tax and social declarations, in particular IPR, CNSS, INPP and ONEM, and monitoring legal obligations;
- Taking part in budget preparation and monitoring and in the analysis of variances by project and by donor;
- Preparing monthly financial reports and financial reports for donors, in collaboration with the program teams;
- Preparing and supporting internal and external audits as well as donor verification missions;
- Archiving and securing all accounting and financial documents, in both physical and digital format;
- Ensuring compliance with internal procedures, anti-fraud policies and HAA's zero-tolerance policies;
- Contributing to any other activity necessary for the sound financial management of the organization.
Required profile
Education
Hold at least a university degree at Bachelor's/Graduate level in accounting, finance, financial management, economics or an equivalent field.
An accounting certification is an asset.
Professional experience
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in accounting, including at least 2 years within a national or international NGO;
- Proven experience in managing donor funds and preparing financial reports;
- Experience in preparing for and supporting internal and external audits;
- Experience in cash flow and cash box management;
- Good knowledge of tax and social regulations in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Skills and qualities
- Good command of accounting principles, in particular SYSCOHADA, and of project-based analytical accounting;
- Mastery of at least one accounting software such as Sage, Saari, Tompro, QuickBooks or equivalent;
- Excellent command of Excel, in particular pivot tables and advanced formulas;
- Great rigor in checking supporting documents and meeting reporting deadlines;
- Good analytical, organizational and priority-management skills;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a demanding humanitarian environment;
- Fluency in French; knowledge of English is an asset;
- Irreproachable integrity, sense of confidentiality, team spirit and sense of responsibility;
- Willingness to carry out occasional missions to HAA's provinces of intervention.
