Agronomist Engineer Supervisor – Kwamouth

Humanitarian Action for Africa (HAA) is recruiting an Agronomist Engineer Supervisor to provide technical supervision of food security and agricultural support activities in the Kwamouth Territory, Mai-Ndombe Province.

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring the technical quality of agricultural activities, supervising field teams and contributing to the monitoring of results among beneficiary communities.

Purpose of the position

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Agronomist Engineer Supervisor provides technical supervision of the food security and agricultural support activities implemented in the Kwamouth area.

They ensure the quality of agricultural interventions, provide technical support to field teams and contribute to monitoring results and production indicators.

Main responsibilities

The Agronomist Engineer Supervisor will in particular be responsible for:

  • Providing technical supervision of food security and agricultural support activities;
  • Developing and monitoring technical itineraries adapted to the crops and to the local agricultural calendar;
  • Identifying the households benefiting from agricultural inputs in collaboration with community committees;
  • Supervising the receipt, quality control and distribution of seeds, tools and other agricultural inputs;
  • Supervising and providing technical support to agricultural facilitators and community relays;
  • Organizing training sessions and practical demonstrations as part of farmer field schools;
  • Monitoring the areas planted, yields and the main production indicators;
  • Contributing to data collection and analysis and to the drafting of technical reports;
  • Taking part in the coordination and evaluation meetings organized by the Project Manager;
  • Ensuring compliance with humanitarian principles, HAA's protection policies and zero-tolerance policies;
  • Contributing to any other technical activity necessary to achieve the project's objectives.

Required profile

Education

Hold at least a degree in Agronomic Engineering (Bachelor's/Graduate) or an equivalent degree in agronomy, rural development or agricultural sciences.

Professional experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in implementing food security, agricultural support or livelihoods projects;
  • Proven experience in the distribution of agricultural inputs;
  • Experience in supervising and managing field teams.

Skills and qualities

  • Good command of cropping techniques and technical itineraries adapted to the local context;
  • Ability to supervise, train and support teams and communities;
  • Good command of monitoring and evaluation and technical report writing;
  • Good command of Word, Excel and mobile data collection tools;
  • Fluency in French and in the local languages of the area, in particular Lingala and Kiteke;
  • Integrity, team spirit and sense of responsibility;
  • Willingness to work in rural areas and under field conditions.
