Our rigorous internal policies, aligned with our core missions and values, ensure effective and transparent execution of each initiative, in partnership with local actors to maximize impact on the ground.
Humanitarian Action for Africa (HAA) has solid expertise in managing moderate to high risk projects, acquired through its interventions in areas affected by conflict, mass population displacement and complex humanitarian crises in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
HAA has established rigorous governance with integrated risk management systems. The organization systematically assesses operational contexts to identify and mitigate potential risks, whether security, financial, operational or related to beneficiary protection. It applies contingency and crisis management plans adapted to high-risk environments, ensuring continuity of activities even in unpredictable contexts.
HAA has been intervening for years in regions such as South Kivu, Maniema and North Kivu, characterized by armed conflict, population displacement and intercommunity tensions. These experiences have enabled it to develop a deep understanding of local dynamics and collaborate effectively with local authorities, community leaders and international partners to ensure project success.
The organization has a well-trained multidisciplinary team capable of working in difficult conditions. Staff members are regularly trained in security, risk management, child protection, PSEA (Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), and financial management. HAA also uses digital tools for real-time monitoring and evaluation, ensuring effective project supervision.
HAA adopts an integrated approach to ensure accessible, dignified, and inclusive aid, involving all social categories (gender, age, religion, ethnicity, marginalized groups, displaced persons, returnees, host families, etc.). By placing local communities at the heart of its interventions, HAA ensures that the specific needs of the most vulnerable groups are systematically taken into account.
HAA aims to promote gender equality and integrate the gender dimension in all aspects of its activities. The organization includes gender-related concerns in project analysis, planning and implementation, to promote gender equality in all development activities. It also advocates equality values within its teams, offering equitable opportunities to men and women. HAA ensures gender sensitivity in all its projects, while giving children, girls and boys alike, equal opportunities to acquire skills to contribute to the development of their communities.
HAA collaborates with local, national and international partners to strengthen its response capacity. These partnerships make it possible to pool resources, improve understanding of local contexts and ensure a rapid and coordinated response to crises.
The organization applies strict financial policies, including regular internal and external audits, guaranteeing integrity in fund management, even in high-risk contexts. These measures minimize the risks of corruption and inappropriate use of resources.
HAA adopts a human rights-based approach, with particular emphasis on the protection of vulnerable groups, including women, children and displaced persons. The organization ensures that its actions respect international humanitarian standards and the principles of "do no harm".
In conclusion, through strong governance, an experienced team, effective tools and strategic partnerships, HAA is well equipped to manage moderate to high risk projects, while ensuring sustainable results and minimizing negative impacts on the communities it serves.
